Mental Health and Well-Being

As Kappas, we’re always looking for opportunities to give back and improve the world around us.

This includes supporting one another when it comes to mental health and well-being within our own chapter — and beyond. Kappa is proud and honored to partner with and support the following established organizations that are working to effectively address these topics and needs with compassion, authenticity, and respect.

Beta Pi Philanthropy

In May of 2026, our chapter had the privilege of accepting the Sig Kohl Award at the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation’s event, Hope Grows Here! The award is granted each year to a recipient who is dedicated to making an enduring difference in the fight against Sarcoma. Over the past 15 years, two beloved sisters have shaped the soul of our chapter’s commitment to sarcoma research and awareness. Kristy LeMond, MC' 07, passed away from soft tissue sarcoma in 2013, and Kylie Rodgers, MC '20, passed away from Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2021. Their light and love live on in the Kappa house every day. Because of Kristi and Kylie, our chapter has raised over $25,000 for the Northwest Sarcoma Foundation through our fall and spring philanthropic events. In the fall we host our annual Kristy's Kickball Tournament alongside a Grilled Cheese Feed; in the spring, we host Kyliepalooza, a thrift pop-up and fashion show. The Northwest Sarcoma Foundation has become woven into the identity of Kappa Kappa Gamma here at UW, and we are deeply honored to carry this partnership forward, helping fund critical research and programming for sarcoma patients and families here in Seattle. We are forever grateful!
